Terms & Conditions
These terms and conditions are intended to provide a clear understanding between the teacher and student (or parent/guardian where applicable) and help create a positive learning experience for everyone.
1. Lessons
• Lessons are delivered on a one-to-one basis from my home studio unless otherwise agreed.
• Students should arrive on time for their scheduled lesson.
• Lessons finish at the agreed end time. Late arrival cannot normally be made up by extending the lesson.
2. Lesson Fees
• Taster Session: £10.00
• 30-minute lesson: £22.50
• 60-minute lesson: £42.00
Payment should be made before or at the start of each lesson unless another arrangement has been agreed.
3. Cancellations
• At least 24 hours’ notice is required if you need to cancel or rearrange a lesson.
• Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice will normally be charged at the full lesson fee.
• If I need to cancel a lesson, an alternative lesson will be offered or a full refund provided.
4. Missed Lessons
Failure to attend a booked lesson without notice will be treated as a late cancellation and the full lesson fee will remain payable.
5. Home Studio Etiquette
To ensure a safe and enjoyable environment:
• Please arrive no more than five minutes before your lesson.
• Parents or guardians of younger students may wait if agreed in advance.
• Please respect the home, neighbours, equipment and studio facilities.
• Food, chewing gum and alcohol are not permitted in the teaching studio.
• Mobile phones should be switched to silent during lessons unless needed for learning purposes.
6. Health & Safety
• Students should inform me of any medical conditions or additional needs that may affect their lesson.
• Anyone feeling unwell, particularly with a contagious illness, should contact me to rearrange their lesson where possible.
• Reasonable care should be taken when using instruments and equipment within the studio.
7. Damage to Equipment
Students are expected to treat all instruments and equipment with care. Any deliberate or reckless damage may result in the student or parent/guardian being liable for repair or replacement costs.
8. Safeguarding
Students under the age of 18 remain the responsibility of their parent or guardian outside lesson times. Parents should ensure children are collected promptly at the end of each lesson.
9. Photography & Recordings
Photos, videos or recordings of lessons will only be made with the student’s or parent/guardian’s permission.
10. Exams
Where students choose to take graded examinations, examination fees, books and any associated costs are the responsibility of the student or parent/guardian unless otherwise agreed.
11. Liability
While every reasonable care is taken to provide a safe teaching environment, SPJ Music & Tuition cannot accept responsibility for loss of personal belongings or injury unless caused by negligence.
12. Changes to Terms
These terms and conditions may be updated from time to time. Students will be given reasonable notice of any significant changes.
